Kennford Post Office
Our local shop, just under a mile away, they offer a great range of groceries, fresh bakery and pastries, chilled foods, fruit and many of life’s necessities (forgotten toothbrush anyone?!). They’re open 7 days a week but do check for any changes to hours on Bank or Public holidays.
The Ley Arms
It’s just a 5 minute walk to this picture-postcard thatched 12th Century country pub. This wonderful family run pub has a a fabulous restaurant, bar and beer garden. They are family, baby & dog friendly. This is a definite must visit if you are staying with us but booking is encouraged as they are very popular.
The Seven Stars
This is a small but brilliant village pub, just under a mile away in Kennford. Family run with great food, and drinks, it also has a pool table. Dog Friendly.

The Turf Locks
A gorgeous flat cycle or walk from Powderham church- in total 5 miles (car and walk).
From parking at the church a mile or so along the flat path, you will find an iconic Grade II listed pub in an extraordinary waterside location. It hosts uninterrupted panoramic views stretch across the outstanding natural beauty of the Exeter canal, River Exe Estuary and Powderham Estate. The Turf has been a South West landmark for over 195 years. Eat, drink and watch the world go by.
Exe Estuary Trails
Beginning 3 miles from us, these trails are a 16 mile, mainly flat cycle and walkway which runs around the entire Exe Estuary linking Exmouth, Exeter and Dawlish Warren, with fantastic views along the River Exe and great places such as the Turf Locks and Double Locks to eat and drink along the way.
Powderham Castle
The Castle is in a unique, picturesque setting within an ancient deer park beside the Exe estuary, just some 3 miles away. Over 600 years of history can be discovered within the walls of one of Devon’s oldest family homes. Enjoy a Devon cream tea in the grounds, sample some of Devon’s best produce from the farm shop or simply go for a walk along the deer park.
Kenton Park Estate Vineyard
Kenton Park Estate is a family owned boutique Vineyard situated in a stunning location along the South West Coast of England close to Devon’s beautiful Exe Estuary, nestling in the gentle foothills of Haldon Forest. The Double Locks
Situated on the Exeter Ship Canal, just over 3 miles away, you cannot beat the Double Locks for its location. What better way to escape the ordinary than spending the day kayaking down the canal, heading towards the pub of course!

Dart’s Farm
Just 9 miles away, Dart’s Farm is a multi award-winning farm shop. Michael and James Dart had a vision to create a unique shopping destination that champions local food and drink, from the farm and other incredible, passionate artisans. They wanted it to be about the home and the great outdoors; to be somewhere that you are able to go and spend the whole day.
You can reconnect with nature by visiting the animals, winding your way through the vegetable fields, or wildlife spotting in the bird hide overlooking the wetlands. If you are feeling adventurous you can hire a bike and discover the beautiful views the Exe Estuary has to offer
Haldon Forest
Roughly 2 miles away and includes cycle trails, walks and play areas for all ages. There is also the fabulous Go Ape: great for thrill-seekers and family adventurers with hilltop to hilltop zip wires and daring high-level crossings with the most spectacular views.
Exeter Cathedral & City Centre
Exeter is one of the most vibrant, attractive and historically interesting cities in England. Pre-dating the arrival of the Romans in AD 50, Exeter’s history is rich and long. There are plenty of wonderful places to eat and drink, lots of lovely shop and visitor attractions including the unique underground passages and magnificent Cathedral.
Dawlish Warren
5 miles away is the stunning Dawlish Warren: a one and a half mile stretch of sandy beach, sheltered sand dunes and award-winning bathing waters. Along with amusements along beachfront and an internationally protected National Nature Reserve, it’s definitely worth a visit.
Dartmoor National Park
Get in touch with your wild side! Just 15 miles away is the stunning Dartmoor National Park: 368 square miles of rugged, beautiful scenery – the largest and wildest area of open country in southern England. There are loads of wonderful walks to explore and plenty of spots to try a little wild swimming if you are brave enough. Fabulous old pubs, The Rugglestone, The Rock at Haytor and Ullercombe Farm Shop to name but a few, all worth a visit.
